Hastings was founded with one simple idea – to provide high quality, reasonably priced legal services to the emerging companies and venture capital community. Working for years in the corporate groups of two large law firms, Tyler found the most rewarding part of his job was forming relationships with clients, helping them to launch and grow their companies, and supporting their success. 

Over time, he started to engage more with the community, attending events outside the office and forming friendships with founders and investors. Through these connections, he realized that while startups definitely need top-notch legal guidance, the rates charged by large law firms make these services cost-prohibitive for many companies. While large law firms are well equipped to facilitate certain transactions such as international mergers and acquisitions, this global infrastructure (which ends up driving legal costs sky-high), is not needed for most companies.
